Let's Explore Fairytale Land
Fairytale Day
To celebrate all that we have learnt during our Fairytale topic, we decided to have a special Fairytale day. We have decorated crowns, made wands and drawn step by step drawings. We had a dance in the hall, playing corners, musical statues and musical bumps. What a great bunch of dancers! We finished our celebration with a banquet, where we enjoyed fruit kebabs, carrots, cucumber and fairy cakes.
Chinese New Year
We had a great day celebrating Chinese New Year. We have made Chinese lanterns and pop up snakes for the ‘Year of the Snake’. We learnt about Chinese traditions like spring cleaning the house, decorating houses with red decorations for luck, eating Chinese food and celebrating at the parade with a dragon dance. We had a Chinese music lesson and did our own dragon dance! We enjoyed a Chinese banquet. We taste tested some different Chinese foods: chow mein, vegetable spring rolls, prawn crackers and fortune cookies. We used our taste test charts to rate our plates!

Letters to Father Christmas
We wrote letters to Father Christmas using the Phonics we have learnt so far. Then, we visited the Post Office in Boothstown to post our letters. Afterwards, we went to Desire for a hot chocolate! What a great morning.

Diwali
This week we have been learning all about Diwali. We have been reading the book, Binny’s Diwali, and learning about how Hindus celebrate Diwali by decorating their houses, lighting Diya lamps, enjoying fireworks and eating special foods. We tried on some traditional Indian clothes that Mrs Patel brought in and wore bindis and bracelets.
