Hello Nursery,

This final week’s home learning is all about Space.

I hope you and your families have enjoyed reading your end of year reports this week. It was lovely to write them and think about all of your hard work and the achievements you made during our shorter year together. Your teachers are all extremely proud of everyone!

For those who are going to a new school in September, we will miss you and wish you good luck. Your new schools are very lucky to have you! For those staying here, I am really looking forward to being your teacher again in Reception! Take care everyone and enjoy your summer holidays.

Hello Nursery,

I hope you have all had a good week. Next week’s home learning is all about music, a topic I know we all enjoy! I am missing Mrs Garfield’s music sessions and I am sure you all are too, so I’ve included some of the fun activities on the home learning so that you can have a go at home!

Manchester Museum have created a bank of interesting activities that you might want to try https://www.mminquarantine.com/resource-for-home-educators-and-fam  and https://www.salfordcvs.co.uk/salfordstories-calendar-children have things to do for every day in July!

Normally we would have our Sports Day this week, but as we can’t I have attached Ed Start’s Virtual Sports week for us all to compete in! Can you challenge yourself and complete the whole week? Good luck and let me know how you get on!

Please take a look at the PTA fundraiser below.

Stay safe and happy nursery, we miss you!

Miss Neill 😊

Hello Nursery,

I hope you have all had a good week and got to enjoy the hottest day of the year so far! Mrs Garfield sprayed me with water from the hose and thought it was very funny!

This weeks home learning is all about ‘Around the World’ and the story of Handa’s Surprise. I always enjoy tasting the fruit from this story, maybe you could try some at home?

Take care nursery and keep safe,

Miss Neill 😊

Hello Nursery,

It has been so lovely being able to talk to you on the phone this week. All of your teachers and friends are missing you! I’m glad you have been busy and trying hard at home, keep up the good work. Thank you for all of the new home learning posts on Tapestry and email, after talking to you all I know that everyone enjoys seeing them!

This weeks learning project focuses on Celebrations and today (15th May) is International Families Day. I know that lots of you have celebrated birthdays during the break from school and I hope you managed to have a great day, filled with lots of fun and family time!

The weather this week is forecast to be sunny and warm so I hope you get chance to go outside and enjoy it! I have put lots of activities and games on the ‘outdoor learning’ and ‘physical development learning’ pages for you to try outside.

Have fun and keep working hard nursery,

Miss Neill 😊

Hello Nursery,

I hope you have all had a lovely bank holiday and had lots fun with your families. I celebrated VE Day and have been busy in my garden growing lots of flowers. Mrs Garfield has been doing lots of reading and music practise, as well as exploring different walks near her home. Mrs Morrison and her family have been making cards and written notes to loved ones and posted them. It’s been so lovely to see how busy you have all been at home, please keep sending in the photos through Tapestry or email. We all miss you and hope that you are having fun, staying active, exploring and enjoying your time at home!

Miss Neill 😊

Hello Nursery,

Thank you for sharing your home learning photos the past few weeks. It’s great to be able to see all of the fun busy jobs you’ve been doing with your families. Please keep working hard and uploading the photos to Tapestry or email BMPSKeepintouch@gmail.com.

To commemorate VE day on Friday 8th May, I’ve included a medal activity in this weeks home learning that you might want to have a go at. I’ve also added exercise activities for every day in May, so please have a look if you’re up for the challenge!

With all of this rain and sun we’ve had recently I was luckily enough to see a big rainbow! I hope you’ve seen one too, or maybe you’ve been finding the rainbows in people’s windows when you go for a walk.

Take care nursery and keep up the good work,

Miss Neill 😊

Message from Miss Neill

Dear Nursery,

I just wanted to write a little note to let you all know I’m thinking about you and looking forward to seeing you all when we come back to school, whenever that may be! I hope this time can be filled with happy memories at home, with your family, baking, reading, playing games and exploring the outdoors. I miss the fun we have together at school, but until we return, stay home and stay safe!

I hope you had a lovely Easter and managed to enjoy some of the sun, whether that be a BBQ, walk or playing in the garden! I am updating the home learning on Nursery’s class page each week and also using Tapestry as a means of contact and updating me on home learning during these times.

Take care everyone,

Miss Neill

Nursery have been exploring the different types of food made by animal products on a farm as part of their Farm topic.

In gymnastics nursery have been practising vaulting and balancing. We made sure only our hands and feet touched the equipment and not our knees. We also did different balancing along the benches, some did bunny hops and others had to walk very carefully along the bench. We talked about health and safety making sure we only jumped off the equipment if there was a mat on the floor and only having one person on the equipment at any time. Nursery were fantastic!

Nursery enjoyed pancake day! They read the story The Run Away Pancake and made their own pancakes. They chose toppings and made a bar chart to find out what the most popular topping was - nutella! They also flipped pancakes and made playdough pancakes too,

To support their Transport topic, nursery had a visit from the Naughty Bus! They had all loved reading the story and doing lots of activities linked to it and were very excited to meet the bus and bus driver! They learnt all about London busses and got tickets from the driver. They had lots of challenges to do including finding the missing teddy bear!

Nursery had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year. They explored different Chinese objects, tasted lots of Chinese food, used chopsticks with noodles, and learnt about the Zodiac story. They also learnt a Chinese New Year song and did some dragon dancing in the hall with instruments and scarves.

Nursery visited the Church and learnt all about The Christmas Story and Advent. Reverend Garfield told us about the different objects in the Church and what they symbolised. We sang some Christmas songs and got to listen to the cello.

Nursery have lots of fun in their weekly music sessions. They explore ways of changing sounds, copy rhythm patterns listen to high and low instruments and learn to hear and clap the syllables in words.

Nursery have been learning about Autumn and enjoyed going on Autumn walks. They collected the different coloured leaves and created their own Autumn tree pictures.

For spooky party day we created pumpkin printing pictures, carved and explored pumpkins, threaded spooky pasta, explored different slimes and goos and found different ways to melt frozen hands!

To support their Nocturnal Animals topic, Nursery had some special visitors this week! They got to meet, stroke and hold a barn owl, tree frog, sugar glider, hedgehog, millipede and rat.

Nursery have been enjoying meeting their new friends and exploring their new indoor and outdoor learning areas.
