Welcome to Year 2.
There are 28 children in our class. Our teacher is Miss Duckett and our teaching assistants are Mrs Cunliffe and Mrs Wheeldon.
How does your garden grow? 18.5.21
We have been so busy with our Summer 1 topic. So far we have planted sunflowers and kept a sunflower diary to see how much taller they are growing each week. We have also planted some seedlings with Mr Bunting in our vegetable patch. We helped to plant carrots, leeks and spinach.
We have also been investigating what happens when plants grow without soil (hydroponically). We wanted to see what would happen if we grew a bean without soil. We used a plastic bag, some kitchen roll soaked in water and the beans to create 'bean houses' for our plants. Some of us predicted the plants would grow and others thought they wouldn't. Now we need to wait to see what happens!
NSPCC Number Day 7.5.21
We celebrated Number Day raising money for the NSPCC. We enjoyed a multiplication number scavenger hunt in the morning and entered the Times Table Rockstars NSPCC Rocks competition. You can see our winners below!
Leaf Rubbing Art 29.3.21
We used lots of different shaped leaves to create a collage and then used wax crayons to create a leaf rubbing. Look at some of our masterpieces!
Perfect Pets: Non Chronological Reports 10.3.21
As part of our topic 'What makes the perfect pet?' we have planned and written non-chronological reports based on our favourite pets. From horses to snakes, cats to turtles, we have covered all possibilities! We learnt about the features of non-chronological reports, looked at some examples and finally wrote our own booklets.
Our 'Don't' Poems 8.12.20
We watched Murray Lachlan Young's poem 'Don't' and decided to make our own. We wanted to improve the verb 'put' so we thought of lots of powerful verbs to make our poems funny e.g. squeeze, shove, boot, glue. Watch the original here, then watch some of ours:
Lego Workshop 27.11.20
We really enjoyed our visit from Junior Stem today for our lego workshop, click below to see what we did!
