Year 2 Information
Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope you have had an enjoyable and restful Summer. It is wonderful to welcome back the children into Year 2.
This letter should provide you with some information of weekly routines in Year 2 and useful websites that we will be using alongside their learning and how to login to access these sites.
Curriculum
This year the children’s learning will continue to be focused around a different topic each half term. The information regarding what will be covered in these topics will be available on the website at the start of each half term. Miss Lee will be teaching R.E. and Computing each week and Music will be taught by Minshull Music. We will have two P.E. lessons each week with Chris Yates teaching the Wednesday lesson.
Homework - Will be given every Monday in a homework book/online activity to be completed and handed in for the following Monday.
Spellings – A document will be provided at the start of each half term listing the spellings that the children will be tested on each week. The document will be stuck into the children’s homework books at the beginning of each half term and be pinned to the top of their Seesaw account for reference.
Times tables - A half-termly times table focus will be set each half term. The children can practice these on TTRS. Logins will be stuck in the front cover of the homework books.
Reading – Children are expected to read to an adult three times a week (at least) and have their reading journal signed before the book can be changed.
Reading journals will be checked every Tuesday and Friday by Mr Ormrod and books will be changed on these days.
P.E - P.E will be every Tuesday and Wednesday. Children should come into school in their P.E kit for that day. Earrings should not be worn on P.E. days.
Seesaw information – Some letters and information will be put onto Seesaw. Seesaw logins will be stuck in the front of the homework books.
Water Bottles
Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day. Please use plain water only.
