Welcome to Year 6

We have 32 children in our class.  Our teacher is Mrs Kelly and our teaching assistant is Mrs Cunliffe.

Class Routines

Homework will generally be given out on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday.  It takes the form of a learning journal and the children will be told in class what is expected from each task.

A list of spellings will be given out each week and the test will usually be every Friday.

P.E is on a Tuesday and Thursday but we ask that your child’s P.E kit is in school at all times.

Guided reading takes place within the classroom usually once a week with small groups and more often as a class in the form of shared reading.

Curriculum

Throughout the year, we generally learn through a topic based curriculum and our teachers provide opportunities for children to go to various places of interest or have visitors in school.  Please find the link below to our current topic and any class letters.

In Year 6, children also have the opportunity to attend a residential trip to Low Bank Ground in the Lake District.  This year, the trip is on Monday, 13th February.  Children take part in a variety of outward-bound pursuits including water-sports, rock scrambling, walking and looking after the environment.  They are accredited with the John Muir Award at the end of the week.

Feel free to make an appointment to see teachers in our school if you have anything that you would like to discuss.
