Following the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent closure of schools, the government is providing an amount of catch-up funding to all schools to support with closing gaps in learning. This additional funding aims to support pupils in any lost learning so that schools can continue to meet curriculum expectations for the following academic year. We must ensure the additional funding is being used effectively to support identified pupils to make expected progress. In order to utilise additional funding in the best possible way, we have considered closely the research and advice put forward by the EEF (Education Endowment Foundation) and used timely assessments of children’s academic progress to inform our decisions.
