Hi Y1, I hope you have all had a lovely week! You should be getting your reports soon, each one of you should be super proud of how much you achieved during your short time in Y1. I know all the Y1 staff are very proud of you! It's a shame that we didn't get the chance to spend more time together in Y1 but in the short time that we had together you filled the classroom with fun and laughter 😁. Thank you! Miss Yates is busy putting some things together in a transition folder and is very much looking forward to meeting you in September!

This week's learning is all about Space and there are some great activities linked to it on the plan.

Hope you all have a good week, stay safe and happy !

Mrs Jones 😊

Hi Y1

Hope you and your families are all safe and well. It has been lovely to speak to some of you this week, and I know that Mrs Smith has enjoyed speaking to some of you on the phone too! We have both missed you all lots :)

The highlight of my week was definitely being invited on a zoom call with some of you! It was so lovely to see you all, you all look so happy and grown up. A huge thank you to your parents to for organising that for you each week, it is lovely that you still get to speak to each other and play games :). My daughter, Emily, would also like to say thank you for letting her join in with the scavenger hunt, she loved it!

This weeks home learning is all about Music, I'm sure you will have lots of fun making your own instruments from items around your house. There is also a link to the Summer Reading Challenge, which I know some of you enjoy and EdStart have produced some sporting activities for you to take part in. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures via the bmpskeepintouch@gmail.com email.

A huge well done to Levi. Eleanor, Reeva, Jake and Rhea who look like they've been working hard on Spelling Shed this week! Super work!

Take care

Hi Year 1,

I hope you have all had a good week and were able to enjoy the hottest day of the year! The children in our Key Worker Groups at school spent a lot of time in the shade at break times! This week's home learning topic is Around the World, there are some interesting activities on there, I hope you enjoy them. It would be a great opportunity to find out about a different country around the world that you would like to visit.

Reverend Garfield has also recorded a new assembly for us on the Lost Sheep.

Remember to have a look at Joyful June and see what activities are left to complete! Miss Kearsley is working on something fun to replicate a sports day at home for you, so look out for that information soon.

I have had a lovely time writing your reports this week, I have really enjoyed looking back on how well you all started your journey into Y1 and what it shame it was that our time was cut short! We had lots of fun in the short time we had together though and I look forward to seeing you all again!

Keep safe and happy!

Mrs Jones :)

Hi Y1, hope you have all had a lovely week, despite the  wet weather! Hopefully you have managed to see some more family members, following the social distancing guidelines, by maybe having a little walk or a sit in their garden.

I am pleased to see that some of you have been playing on Spelling Shed this week, Rhea has played almost everyday, several times a day - well done Rhea! I see that Reeva and Jake have also been playing this week :)

The home learning this week is all about famous and significant people, remember when we learnt about Florence Nightingale during our Superheroes topic? I wonder if you could find out any interesting information about people form the past and in the present who have made a difference to our lives today.

Hope you have a fun-filled weekend!

Be safe and happy :)

Mrs Jones

Hi Y1, hope you have had a lovely week! The topic this week is the Rainforest, there are opportunities to do some minibeast hunting which I think you will enjoy and you should be able to spot quite a few because of the wet weather we have been having! I have also included a link to a new website The National Oak Academy, this has lessons for Year 1 taught by real teachers! My children at home are enjoying them, so I thought you might do too! https://classroom.thenational.academy/year-groups/year-1. There are instructions on how to access the lessons on the home learning week 10 document.

Please use the following link if you are having difficulty downloading PDF documents https://www.freepdfconvert.com/

Hope you all have a lovely week!

Stay safe and happy

The theme is "Under the Sea", hope you have lots of fun doing the different activities. Hi Y1! Hope you are all well and have had another good week.

The PTA have organised an art competition, you can find the information below this message, it would be great to see your entries! You are all fantastic artists and always enjoy taking part in art lessons in class, why not give it a go!

Hope you have managed to get outside in this lovely weather again, in the garden or going for a walk or riding your scooters and bikes  - I believe some of you are now doing this without your stabilisers, wow!

There won't be any home learning this week as it is half term so have well earned rest!

Looking forward to seeing you soon. Keep safe and keep smiling :).

Lots of love, Mrs Jones

Hi Y1, hope you have all had a good week?

I have had a lovely week, the highlights were receiving the 2 videos that you made! I loved watching them both, you all look so grown up now. A huge thank you to your parents as well for putting the videos together, I really really appreciated it! I have also loved being able to speak to you and your families over the phone this week, so pleased that you are all doing well :)

Hope you had a good time celebrating VE day last Friday? We had a street party following the social distancing guidelines, it was a lot of fun! We have had sunshine again this week, hope you have been able to go outside and play football, ride your bike or scooter, catch a frisbee or go for a walk.

I have enjoyed seeing all the work you have been doing at home, remember to just do what you can and don't worry if you find anything tricky, we will go over things when we get back into school.

Lots of love, Mrs Jones

Hi Y1,

Hope you are all keeping safe and happy! We have had quite a few people send their work in via the Keep in Touch email this week. I have LOVED seeing what you have been up to and it has been great to see so many of you smiling and having fun in the sunshine. Keep sending them in please :)

Have you started on the May PE challenge that I posted last week? It got quite competitive in our house, especially with the star jumps!

It is VE Day today, a very special day were we can celebrate how grateful we are for all those people who fought for our country and those who helped everyone back in England. Make sure you give your grown ups an extra special hug to say thanks for all they are doing to help you at home, parents are superheroes too!

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend and I'm looking forward to speaking to you all soon!

lots of love

Mrs Jones

Hello Y1! Hope you have all had a good week. I have loved seeing your pictures showing what you have been up to at home, you are looking so grown up now! Remember to keep sending them in and then I can share them with everyone on the class page. It's been great to see you using the resources from the Home Learning, remember to just do what you can and don't feel like you need to do everything.

I wonder if any of you have learnt any new skills at home, I've been teaching my children how to make their own sandwiches! Try to help your adults as much as you can, every little but helps.

Ed Start have sent a timetable of different PE activities/challenges to do throughout May, it would be great if you could have a go at it too :). I have put the timetable on the home learning page.

Hope you are all having fun and keeping safe, I have started reading The Twits with Emily at home and she is enjoying it as much as you were, hopefully we will get to finish it in class when we get back to school.

lots of love, Mrs Jones.

Hi Year 1!

I hope that you have all had a good week and have been enjoying the sunshine! My children have been designing Joe Wicks style exercises for me to do in the garden this week, it has been hard work, they are much fitter than I am! It has been lovely to see what some of you have been up to at home, I'll look forward to seeing next week's photographs too, remember to email them to BMPSKeepintouch@gmail.com.

Well done for all of your hard work this week, I can see lots of you have been on Spelling Shed and Times Table Rockstars - super work!

Remember to access the BBC Bitesize website - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons for Maths, English and Topic lessons and take a look at the White Rose learning resources this week for your maths. All of the links are in the weekly plan. We would usually be doing our Castles topic this half term so I have uploaded some Castles work into the Topic folder on the Class Page in case you would like to look at it. It is always one of my favourite topics to teach :)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Mrs Jones

My dear Y1 class,

Hope you have had a lovely Easter, and have eaten lots of chocolate (just like me!).

All of the staff in Y1 are missing you a lot! We miss your happy, smiling faces! We miss your laughter and your little stories! We simply miss you! We truly have the best job in the world being able to teach you and we really miss not all being together in the classroom having fun. Now is the time to show off to your adults and show them what fantastic learners you are J  Please stay safe and listen to your adults.

We are looking forward to all being together again at Boothstown, but until then stay safe and enjoy doing lots of different activities at home. You may even be able to learn some new skills J

Lots of love

Mrs Jones

We acted out one of our favourite stories today....I Want my Hat Back!

Year 1 did an extreme read in the rain today!

We learnt about the importance of washing our hands because germs can spread easily. We painted some peoples hands green and then they shook hands with other children, eventually everybody's hands were green!

We wrote instructions of how to make hot chocolate and then made some ourselves!

Y1's Remembrance Day Artwork....

Y1 had a fantastic time on Superhero Day!

Y1 came into the classroom this morning to find that Evil Pea had been there! This must be a job for Supertato!
