Care, Learn, Achieve

PHSE

At Boothstown Methodist Primary School, we recognise the value of PSHE as it enables our children to develop knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, both in the present and in the future.

We use the SCARF programme of learning, which provides a comprehensive scheme of work for PSHE education and covers all of the DfE's statutory requirements for Relationships Education and Health Education. It also covers the learning opportunities within the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study, therefore providing for elements such as the rights of the child, caring for the environment, economic education, and children’s social, moral, spiritual and cultural (SMSC) education, including British Values, which are statutory requirements.

Learning opportunities are spread across three core themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World.  These themes are then broken down specifically into six units:

Unit 1 = Me and My Relationships

Unit 2 = Valuing Difference

Unit 3 = Keeping Myself Safe

Unit 4 = Rights and Responsibilities

Unit 5 = Being My Best

Unit 6 = Growing and Changing
